Monday Mix #48: Hot Since 82
Hot Since 82 - Live From A Pirate Ship in Ibiza 2.0, September 2022
Not many house sets have made it into my Monday Mix rotation lately, so I figured it was time to break out a house mix from one of my favorite artists. How this suave Ibiza legend has not been featured in over a year of blog posts is beyond me. I even had to look back through all of our posts just to double-check check this wasn’t a repost. After confirming that this would in fact be his first feature, I know it was his time. This week’s post is for Daley Padley A.k.a Hot Since 82, a British DJ/producer who has managed to perfectly blend the deep and tech house genres.

Contrary to his DJ handle, Padley was born in 1981 in Barnsley, England. Apparently, he didn’t get hot until after his first year of life. In his hometown, he got behind the decks at the young age of 17, where he found a name for himself playing 12-hour weekend sets at the local club. He quickly graduated to a residency in Ibiza, spinning and clubbing until he found himself needing a break from the scene. He made his return to house with his first single under the soon-to-be well-known moniker, Hot Since 82. Following his first release, his career quickly snowballed. Recording a set for the coveted BBC’s Essential Mix series in 2013, founding his own label in 2014, Knee Deep In Sound, and then mixing a second Essential Mix in 2015. The house community could not get enough of this man! He has since released many singles, several albums, and even launched his own clothing label, Low Orbit.
Hot Since 82 cemented himself as one of my favorite DJs after watching his Cercle Set at Culture Club Revelin terrace in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The vibe and song selection in this mix is unmatched. If you haven’t seen it, I would highly recommend (Cercle + Hot Since 82 + King’s Landing). As you can see, I had countless unreal Hot Since 82 sets to choose from. On top of the ones already named, he has done a set in a hot air balloon, a lagoon in Argentina, and his original pirate ship set in 2018. I finally landed on his second Ibiza pirate ship voyage. Like the original, this set screams summer vibes with perfectly layered deep house tracks that create a non-stop dancing sway of the boat and crew. For me, it was a much-needed break from the dark, cold, and rainy winter months. Reminding me why summer and house music are an unparalleled match that needs no further explanation.
Ideal for: Celebrating summer very early.

Yo ho ho
Daley is a smooth operator!
So much so, that I could easily fall asleep to his overly polished commercial grade mixes.
I'm a bit more partial the old school "Chicago" B2B style house mixes, which are way more fun to watch, especially when they try catch the other selector out.
